Four Distinguished Scholars Honored as Emeritus Professors at Dhaka University
In a recent development, Dhaka University (DU) has bestowed the prestigious title of Emeritus Professor upon four highly esteemed academicians. These esteemed individuals, who have made significant contributions to the field of academia, are Prof. Anwarullah Chowdhury, Prof. AFM Yusuf Haider, Prof. Tajmeri SA Islam, and Prof. Choudhury Mahmood Hasan.
The announcement was confirmed by Rafiqul Islam Panna, acting director of DU's Public Relations Office, to The Daily Star. According to university sources, the decision was made by the university syndicate, following a recommendation from the Academic Council.
As Emeritus Professors, these scholars will continue to be associated with their respective departments, offering invaluable guidance and expertise in their academic disciplines. Their roles will encompass providing counsel on education, research, and innovative initiatives, ensuring the university's continued growth and excellence.
The privileges granted to these esteemed professors include access to the university library for research and publications, secretarial support, and medical facilities. However, they will not be entitled to university housing.
